Festival Bouzé Océan Indien 2024

Festival Bouzé held its indian ocean edition last july 2024 and reunited top street dancers from 9 countries in Mauritius island from 18th to 21st July. The festival was held in institut francais de Maurice, which is also the main partner of Festival Bouzé, who also got support from ambassade de France, National arts fund and Mauritius recreation council.

Over 50 dancers from South Africa, Djibouti, Seychelles, Madagascar, Comoros, Reunion Island, Rodrigues Island, Mayotte landed in Mauritius on 17th July to be part of this historical first event of its kind in the indian ocean.

The festival launched officially with a press conference on the 18th July at institut francais de Maurice and after lunch the participants were dispatched in group talks before attending Masterclasses in Krump and Breaking proposed by Bucckaf and Bboy Joyeux both from Reunion Island.

Local talents and the delegation of dancers also participated in Masterclasses on Friday 19th, an Afro dancehall workshop was proposed at Caudan art center by Jannia from Madagascar, and two other workshops were proposed in institut francais de Maurice at Rose-Hill, a Hip-Hop choreography Masterclass by Lohane from France and a Breaking Masterclass by Bboy Stan from Reunion Island.

Saturday morning a series of dance initiations were proposed in styles such as Dancehall, Afro and Breaking. The main event of saturday 20th was a conference that brought forward 9 panelists, who shared about street dance in their region and how they are professionalizing their passion. We had Wafa from Djibouti, Jannie from Seychelles and Jannia from Madagascar on the first panel talking about woman actions in the culture, on the second panel we met with Haitham from Comoros, Bucckaf from Reunion Island and Bboy Joyeux from Reunion island. The third panel had Claude Mussard, Bboy Stan from Reunion island and Angeluc from Madagascar. The conference was led by moderator Stewelderson Casimir.

The festival final event on sunday 21st July was the 1 vs 1 indian ocean championship in three different categories, Hip-Hop Freestyle, Afro Styles and Breaking. Participants were:

For the Breaking category :

  2. Awax from Comoros
  3. Bboy Loup-Kass from Madagascar
  4. Bboy Patock from Rodrigues island
  5. Steel Tom from Reunion Island
  6. Bboy David from Mauritius island
  7. Billy Ben from Mayotte
  8. Bboy Ryu from Seychelles

Winner of the Breaking category was Steel Tom from Reunion Island, 2nd Madagascar and 3rd Mayotte

Hip-Hop category:

  1. Jo Wayne from Mauritius
  2. Lilipop from Reunion Island
  3. Darino from Rodrigues island
  4. Fabyo Kydo from Madagascar
  5. Tay Melanin from South Africa
  6. Din Onezime from Seychelles
  7. Bibo Boy from Djibouti

Winner of the Hip-Hop category was : Fabyo Kydo from Madagascar, 2nd place Reunion island and 3rd place Mauritius.

Afro styles Category:

  1. Wolf Dem from Djibouti
  2. Tay Melanin from South Africa
  3. Petit coca from Madagascar
  4. Vanille from Reunion Island
  5. Melissa from Mauritius
  6. Sherill Ann from Rodrigues
  7. Kerrie Tamboo from Seychelles

Winner of the Afro Styles category was : Vanille from Reunion Island. 2nd place when to Madagascar and 3rd place South Africa.
