The lack of structure for urban dance in the Indian Ocean region highlighted the need for the “Festival Bouzé Indian Ocean”, a platform designed to unify, showcase, and promote urban dance talents of the region.

The second edition of Festival Bouzé will be held from 18th to 21st July 2024 in Mauritius. This year Wake Up entertainment will propose an Indian ocean Edition where South Africa, Djibouti, Reunion Island, Madagascar, Comoros, Seychelles, Mayotte, Rodrigues Island and Mauritius will come together to celebrate urban dance artistry.
The first edition of the Festival produced in August 2023, proposed:
- Dance initiation in 8 different urban dance genres
- Masterclasses from international experts to help professionalize urban dance talents
- Networking opportunities between urban dance talents with organizers from the Indian Ocean.
- a 1vs1 dance battle competition – The National Final of Wake Up Session, in three categories, Hip Hop, Breaking and Afro styles.
This upcoming Festival Bouzé will propose also conferences, having panelists from all over the indian ocean talk on the theme “Future of Urban dance in the Indian Ocean” , as well as several masterclasses in Krump, Afro styles and Breaking from experts coming from France, South Africa, Reunion Island and Madagascar.
Partners of this festival are Ambassade de France, institut français de Maurice, National Arts Fund and Mauritius Recreation council.
Regional partners who helped with qualifications in their country are Seychelles National Youth Council, Rodrigues Regional Assembly, Fédération Hip-Hop et Culture urbaine de la Réunion, Fédération Hip-Hop et culture urbaine de Madagascar, Afrocomoco, Maydynamix, Generation 430, Djib Fire Dance and Demolition Squad.
