The first ever Urban dance festival in Mauritius took place from the 3rd to the 6th of August 2023 in the Institut Français de Maurice at Rose-Hill. The festival proposed dance initiations in several genres of urban dance, Masterclasses for professionals by international experts and, a conference with main actors of urban dance in Mauritius and closed with the final of Wake Up Session, urban dance competition.

We registered 313 participations on these three days dance initiations, masterclass and conference and twice as much people for the Final on Sunday 6th.

The festival was supported by Malta Guinness, Institut Francais de Maurice, Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) & NSDK Aluminium mainly. Our other sponsors were Hip-Hop federation of Reunion Island, RUN Bboy Connexion and Plus Ultra Studio.

The festival was such a success that the organizers are already working on its second edition where they will be producing an Indian Ocean Dance Competition in July 2024.
